okay, i'll prolly post more of it. but here's the first bit. by the way, the full title (which i've had copyrighted) is Dead Batteries and Broken Pencils. & if you're smart, you'll figure out the deepness in that & what it really means. -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~--~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- *Jersey* Moving to a new state to a new street with a new house on it and a new high school close by is hard. When you're a 17 year old outcast from Wisconsin who has to leave the only 2 friends you've ever trusted with your life, it's even tougher. My only two friends were Jimmy Hobbes, and Miguel Sanchez. We had nicknames for each other. Jimmy was Saint Jimmy because Greenday's Saint Jimmy was his favorite song. Miguel was the Puerto Rican bull. One, because he was Puerto Rican, and two, because he had a ring through the middle of his nose, like a bull. Mine was Reb, as in rebel. I never considered myself a rebel but I guess they did at the time. We were pierced siblings. When Miguel got the middle of his nose pierced Jimmy and I got ours pierced, I got my nose ring on my left nostril and Jimmy got his on the right. That day I got my belly button pierced and a tattoo around my ankle identical to the ones Jimmy and Miguel had. They were stars, Jimmy's were on his knuckles, Miguel's were on his upper arm and mine were around my ankle. In that way we would always be connected, we would always remember the good times we had together, no matter what. I had only been living in Jersey for 3 days now, and already I hated it. I had yet to go to my new school, meet new people, try and not get squished by jocks and preps, and possibly make new friends. But I didn't want to. I wanted to go back to Wisconsin and stay with Jimmy and Miguel. I missed them more than anyone could imagine. And I was sure that I would never find friends as good as they were. No one could ever replace my boys. "We'll call every fucking day, we promise Lizzy." Jimmy assured me, before I got on the plane. "And I'll take Jimmy with me when I go there to see my dad. Then we could probably go out or something. You know? It won't be that bad." Miguel promised. He always kept the promises that really meant something. I sighed, fighting back my tears, "I'll miss you guys so much!" I threw my arms around them both and held on tight, never wanting to let go. My Mother called from the gate and told me to hurry up. I kissed the boys goodbye on the cheek then ran toward my parents. Before boarding the plane I took one last look at my friends. They had such sad looks on their faces. They waved; "Call us when you get there!" they called in unison. I nodded, blew a kiss and turned, leaving them behind for the first time. I closed my eyes, wishing it was just a bad dream and I would wake up in between both of them in Miguel's basement. I woke to the sound of my alarm clock screaming in my face. I was to go to school today, OH JOY! YIPPEE! WOO HOO! Fun, fun, fucking fun! Zipidy Doo frickin' da! I got up and got ready. My father, the biggest asswipe in the history of the earth, was waiting for me. "Finally," He gasped, "Go get in the car." I did as he said, he came out a few minutes afterward, car keys, and briefcase in hand. He got in and proceeded to drive me to school. "Tomorrow you can drive yourself to school, Elizabeth. I have no time for this shit when you can do it yourself!" He said, he sounded agitated. "Whatever." I replied simply, rolling my eyes and looking out the window. My dad said something in reply to my attitude but I was more fascinated with what was happening outside my window. There were 14 people on the sidewalk. 5 girls and 9 boys. They were dressed in black, red, and white. They all reminded me of Jimmy and Miguel, how we used to be, going to school every weekday morning, laughing all the way. My first class was really boring, I'm not even sure what the class was for but it was boring as hell, all 14 of the people from the sidewalk were in my class. One of them, hand shoulder length hair and kept looking at me, his hair was in his face most of the time so I couldn't see his face, but from the glimpses I caught through his hair, he was pretty cute. I talked to Jimmy by texting him, trying not to pay any attention to the boy staring at me. -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~--~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- I hope you liked the first Part. as i said. i may post more later. the beggining is lame until she starts meeting people. so yea.

cuz i feel like it and i wanna get to the goods. ___________________ *First week of school* New Jersey sucked monkey ass! Evidently things in Wisconsin weren't going great for Jimmy either. Miguel was on vacation in Hawaii and got no reception on his cell. Jimmy's relationship with his mom wasn't improving; he actually admitted he was scared. I'd never heard tough old Jimmy say he was afraid of anything, the boy was fearless. I was the only one he could talk to though and from what I heard his badass attitude was finally backfiring on him. SaintJimmy666: I can't stand her! Since Miguel left I have no safe place to go. I'm trapped in a fucking prison WITH MY CRACK WHORE OF A FUCKIN' MOTHER! SaintJimmy666: WHY DID YOU HAVE TO LEAVE!?!?!?!? PunkThis17: You know I would have chosen to stay if I could Jimmy. PunkThis17: I have no one too Jim, don't feel bad, I'm an outcast here as well. No one talks to me except if they're teasing me, like the Simpson Sisters or they're the Madden twins who only want to fuck me. PunkThis17: It's annoying PunkThis17: JERSEY BITES! SaintJimmy666: big time SaintJimmy666: Do you ever want to date again? PunkThis17: don't start that was ancient history, Hun. SaintJimmy666: Well it's obvious we need each other again. Like before remember? PunkThis17: of course I do but you're in WI SaintJimmy666: That can be fixed. Well g2g. <3 Before I could say anything more he was off. "Don't do anything drastic Jim. Please." I said to myself as if he were in front of me. I looked out my window and thought about how we'd met. It was stupid really. I met him in a bathroom at a 7/11. He'd trashed the store and gone into hiding in the bathroom where he drew all over the walls. Miguel wasn't with me. I'd been at home, fought with my heartless father and left to get some fresh air. I ended up at the 7/11, walked into the bathroom and the rest is history. We became friends, he told me about his mom and I told him about my dad. I felt pretty safe around him, I felt that even though I didn't know much about him I could tell him about my dad, about his terrible temper, and what he'd do to me. How he'd hit me when he yelled. Hadn't laid a finger on my mother, but always hit me, swearing that if I told her, he'd kill us both. A few days later we were dating. It wasn't serious; it was just dating for lack of someone to save us from falling off the cliff of life. I was quickly brought back to reality by my mom calling me down for dinner. ________________________ after this she meets people.

actually yea i was planning on it i have all the names changed, and band names so it's different & not fan ficy but yea, i was hoping to, that's why i got the name copyrighted. okay, this next chaptery part is like....4 pages long brace yourselves! ------------------------------------------ *Meeting with Issues* Two days later there was a power outage at the school. My parents had to go to work and I was left home to fend for myself. What a great way to spend my 18th birthday right!? It wasn't fancy but I partied. No one else but Miguel and Jimmy had remembered my birthday. Jimmy called from his cell phone and Miguel called from his house phone. He was back from Hawaii an asked if I knew where Jimmy had gone. I figured he was just out and didn't worry about it. I didn't do much that day, just jammed to all the songs that came on the radio, danced in the kitchen and made myself a cake. I was about to go to sleep, my parents hadn't come home yet, as usual, when I heard the song Jesus of Suburbia outside. I looked out the window to see a beat up old car, with Jimmy getting out of it. I ran out the door and jumped on him. "OH MY GOD, JIMMY!" I kissed his cheeks multiple times. He told me he'd had enough of his mom so he came here since I'd given both him and Miguel my address the previous week. Finally I could be happy. Sure he wouldn't be at school with me but at least I had someone to talk to. He slept in my room that night since we literally talked ourselves to sleep.
In the hall before my third class I saw one of the boys I regularly saw on the sidewalk with the 14 other people. He was being teased by the Simpson sisters, Jessica and Ashlee. The boy had long greasy hair and he was being laughed at. He said something to them tat made them laugh harder. I inched closer, curious as to what was going on. "So Bert, Where's Ernie?!?!?!" Ashlee asked, the girls shrieked with laughter. He just rolled his eyes and said, "Haven't you got anything better to say? You've used that one way too much it's not effective." He turned to leave when Jessica grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him back. "My sister asked you a question! I suggest you answer it you little freak!" "Hey! You're the only freaks around here!" I found myself saying as I walked over and slapped Jessica's hand off of the supposed 'Bert'. The two girls gaped; surprised that someone had stood up to them, when it wasn't their fight. "What are you doing with those open traps? Catching flies?!" I asked, only making their jaws drop farther. They had nothing to say. They were speechless so they turned around and left. "Thanks but I could've taken on those bitches any time of the day." I smiled and turned to leave, the boy that always watched me was on the other side of the hall, his hair out of his face. He was talking to another one of the boys, the one with the really big hair. "I'm Bert, by the way. Bert McCracken. You must be new here. No one tells those two sluts off. Everyone's too afraid because of what happened to Sonny Moore. The poor kid told them off and they got someone from the football team to take him out! No one's seen 'im since." Bert introduced himself. "Elizabeth Arable and yeah, I am new." I shook his hand. "So where ya going next?" he asked, I told him I was going to P.E. "Bummer. Want to skip with me and meet some awesome people?” I shrugged then nodded. He took me out of the building and to another. He then took me over to a tree and whistled. He got a whistle back so he proceeded to the side of the building. 12 of the other people were there. I was introduced to them all, Lainie Bishop, Cory Thomson, Kati Johnston, Ella Catori, Gabby Lorrsen (those were the girls), Branden Steineckert, Jeph Howard, Quinn Allman, Ray Toro, Mikey Way, Frank Iero, and Bob Bryar. Everyone was there except the boy that always stared at me. I found that Ella was dating Ray and had been for a while, Lainie had just started dating Jeph, Gabby was dating Bob and they were getting pretty serious, Cory was getting closer to Quinn (soon to be dating), Kati was the whore of the group and had made out with everyone there, but was currently dating Bert, evidently Bert was the other whore and they fit nicely together, and Mikey and Gerard were brothers. They were also in gang-like things since before they met each other if that makes sense. Like, 'The Used' gang was comprised of Bert, Quinn, Jeph, and Branden. And My Chemical Romance was Gerard, Frank, Ray, Mikey, Bob. The girls were their groupies and seemed proud of it. None of them, from the sounds of it had dated Gerard though; he wasn't into the whole groupie thing. They didn't go around doing illegal things, they were just really close and they'd kill for each other, most people called them gangs. Together they called themselves 'Used Romance'. Only when they were ALL together though, the girls and both groups of guys. "Where's Gerard?" Ray asked looking around. "He went to class because the teacher said if he skipped class again he'd fail… Gerard didn't want to fail, I guess... Again." Mikey said. "Funny, he didn't mention anything in the hall when I talked to him. He's been acting a little odd lately…" Ray replied, seeming confused. "Yeah, he seems really distracted, like there's always something taking his attention off of us…or anything else for that matter." Gabby said. "Definitely! Have you seen him in some of his classes? He hardly pays attention, he's either staring into the distance, or he's drawing. I'm not saying his drawing is a bad thing. But seriously, he's been increasingly getting worse!" Jeph added. "Oh, yeah…So, new girl… What you think of our shit-hole school?" "uhh…It's okay… Simpson girls and the Maddens are pretty annoying." I was surprised they even noticed me, but smiled slightly at the fact that they did. "You'll like it better once you meet Gerard. He's sexy…. Not a bad kisser, but if he's 'on something' at the time, you can say goodbye to good loving. He gets weird…and I mean super weird when he's had too much to drink, or he's gotten into the Xanex. He's cool though, talented, he just doesn't know it." Kati said. Bert looked at her, offended at what she'd said. "WHAT?" She screeched, "You know how he is! You kissed him too!" I smiled at the couple, they were cute together. "Wait, I thought you said Gerard didn't date any of you…" I was confused. "He doesn't" Kati smiled, "I got him when he was drunk, and the guys go around kissing each other to piss off the homophobic losers in the school." "Oh…" I nodded. "Yeah, Gerard drinks a lot and likes to light things on fire. It helps him get by so we don't say anything unless he gets depressed, not very often; he's too loopy to have many emotions most days. I'm not saying he's a drunken idiot. He's not, he just needs beer to help him get through certain things" Ella told me. I nodded sullenly. "So, ElizA-BethA, what was you're old school like? Just as fuckin' crazy as this one?" Jeph asked. I laughed at the name he called me. Little did I know, it would stick for the rest of my knowing him. I finally had someone to sit with for every class I had. I was in a class with at least one of them at a time except in French. Now I wouldn't be board senseless. My day flew by quickly and soon I was in my last class, and first one with this Gerard guy. Kati, Cory, and Ella were there too but I was more curious to see what Gerard was like. Our Art Teacher was the best. His name was Rick Leckie. He refused to be called Mr. Leckie because it made him feel old. He was the coolest teacher I'd ever had. He believed that even if you called him by his first name that was respect enough, and you didn't have to call him Mr. Leckie. I sat with Cory, Ella, and Kati. Gerard sat on the other side of the classroom, working on whatever, his hair tucked behind his ears. He was really good looking, he looked like some kind of gothic god, and I was immediately attracted to him. He had a truly gorgeous face. What could a magnificent guy like him see in a girl like me? He looked up and looked me in the eye. From where I was sitting I could see his green eyes. They were so beautiful I wanted to keep staring but looked away so I wouldn't seem like a creep. After class I was pulled aside by Rick, forcing the girls to leave without me. He just wanted to talk to me, he was interested in what I had learned in my classes in Wisconsin and had finally gotten the time to ask me about them. He didn't talk to me very long, only a minute or two, but since I had friends waiting it seemed like hours. I finally walked away and back toward my locker. There were still a load of people in the halls but I could see Gerard across the hall from my locker talking to one of the cop/ security guard people. I got closer to my locker when Ashlee came by and knocked my books out of my hands sending them to the floor. I knelt down and started picking it all up when another set of hands started helping me. "I can take care of myself thank you! I'm not disabled!" I said in an aggravated tone, I didn't mean to be so rude but I was a little pissed about the Simpson sisters always picking on me. I looked at the person helping me. "Sorry," He said, it was Gerard, "I just wanted to help out, ya know." I nodded, finished picking my stuff up and went to my locker. "Thanks." I mumbled slightly annoyed "No problem. You're Lizzy, right?" He asked following me. I glared at him, only Jimmy and Miguel were allowed to call me that. "It's Elizabeth to you! There are only two people on this planet that are allowed to call me Lizzy and you're not one of them, buster! How dare you!" I stopped a moment, "And you don't know me and already you're giving me nicknames? What is wrong with you?!" I shoved everything in my bag and walked away. I know it sounds rude, but I have morals against stuff like that. That was the beginning of our.. ..Friendship, I guess you could say. We never exactly got along after that but we considered each other friends. We fought constantly and before we knew it our 13 friends were betting on when our next argument was going to be, how long it would be, and who would win. Over the next month things just worsened really. Yet Gerard would stick up for me when the Simpson's or other jocks came around to bother me. In fact, I stood up for him as well. But when the Maddens came around neither of us could do much of anything. Joel and Benji Madden were sex loving, feckless, morons, who always hit on me. They were twins, and both popular seniors. So of course, they acted like dicks all the time, pranking people, and trying to get in every girl's pants, no matter how old they were. Disgusting if you ask me, but people found them charming. I'm quite sure their goal in life was to bang every girl they came across, and so far, they'd gotten most everyone in school. Back to Gerard: I caught him following me like a body guard constantly and it was starting to creep me out. So one of the times I caught him, I confronted him. "Are you a fucking mass murderer or something?" I asked one day, turning around to find him loitering around behind me. "No, I'm not a mass murderer.. .. But I play one on TV all the time." Was his response. "Then are you a stalker because you're creeping me out whenever you follow me like this." I said with disgust, trying to hide the fact that even though it was a little creepy, I liked that he watched over me. "Yes, Elizabeth, I'm a stalker. I'm stalking you and planning on when an how to kill you." He stepped forward quickly making me flinch. He laughed and walked away. What was even better was that I lived next door to the guy. Mikey I could deal with but Gerard, ugh! Unbelievable! I hated this guy so much sometimes that it would take hours for Jimmy to calm me. My father didn't like him either. In fact, he didn't like any of my friends. He was constantly yelling at me about choosing the right people to hang out with. It didn't affect my relationships with anyone though, my father was a nonentity in the life I had with my friends and I was bound and determined to keep it that way. ------------------------------------------------ hope you liked it!

*Classic Moments* I walked out onto the porch on Monday morning, going to join my friends who were at the end of the street talking and laughing before school. It was a late start, so we had an extra hour to mess around before school. I skipped down the steps, seeing my friends I waved and yelled hello. "uuuuuuuuh" came a groan from somewhere in the yard. I looked around only to see Gerard, face down in the dirt, half in my lawn, and half in his. I walked over and stared down at him, cocking my head to the side. "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?" He said lifelessly. "You dead yet?" I asked. "yeees." He grunted. "Finally." I smiled evilly. I stepped on his back and onto the other side of him. He didn't make any noises so I figured I didn't hurt him. Thank god, even if I didn't like him, I didn't want to hurt him. "Fucking bitch." He groaned getting to his feet. I stopped dead in my tracks. No. He. Did. NOT! I whirled around and glared at him, and man, if looks could kill he'd have been dead in a millisecond. "What did you say?" I squeaked. "Ff-uuuuh-king biii-tch." He annunciated. "Are you calling me a bitch?" I gasped. NO ONE talked to me that way. "If the boot fits, sweetheart." He got right up in my face when he said it, then whipped out a cigarette and walked towards our friends, leaving me on the sidewalk staring in fuming bewilderment. "No one talks to me like that. I get shit on everyday, I'm not about to take it from you, you arrogant son of a bitch." I followed him. He smirked, "Ahh, she speaks" He said, blowing smoke in my face. Making me cough slightly. "Don't blow that shit in my face." I said sternly. "Why should I listen to you? You've never done anything nice for me." He grinned. "I never did anything mean either." I retorted. "HAH!" He laughed, "How about when we met?" "Well I was angry." I said. "And that day in the park when you pushed me into the lake?" He asked, blowing more smoke into my face as he spoke. He took a long drag and awaited my answer. "Well you deserved it! You pushed me off of the merry-go-round….WHILE IT WAS MOVING, might I add." "Why ask, you just did add it. Sheez, I thought you were smarter than that." He laughed again. He was winning and he knew it. "Scum bag." I growled. "Whore." "blood sucker." "Always, Lizzy." He sneered. He knew I hated it when he called me that. I sighed, a frustrated sigh, not the whatever sigh. "You stupid fuck." I snorted. "Shrew." "Human wreckage." "The kind all the therapists love." "Why must you make all of this so difficult?" We were almost to our friends, who were oblivious to our argument. "Because that's the kind of thing blood-sucking human wreckages do, Elizabeth." He took one last drag of his cigarette, and then flicked it away. "Now, if you're finished bitching at me, I'm hungry, and we were planning on going to McDonald's so if you want to stalk us be my guest." I gaped at him, and then stuck my foot out in front of him, hoping to trip him. He stepped right over it and chuckled. "Classic." He mumbled. After we ate at McDonald's we walked across the street to the school. "OOOOOOHHHH, ELIZAAAAABEEETH!" Benji called across the parking lot. I cringed at the sound of his voice. "Fuck off Madden!" Gerard yelled. "Oh! Let the girl answer for herself, Way! You can't be her body guard forever! One of these days you won't be there for her. Then she'll have to answer for herself and she'll have no other choice but to give in to my charm." Benji said, strutting across the parking lot and putting his hand on my face. I pushed it away with disgust. "Ahh, feisty this morning are we, darling?" "Leave her alone. She doesn't want your diseased ass anywhere near her." Gerard snorted. I peered up at him; there was a fire in his eyes that I'd never witnessed prior to this moment. It felt good to know that no matter how much we bickered, he'd stick up for me to the end. "You're gonna regret saying that, Way. Mark my words." Benji hissed, replying to Gerard's glare with his own. Gerard flipped him 'the bird', putting his arm around my shoulder and leading me away from Benji, letting me go when we got a fair distance away from him. "That creep makes me wanna start a killing rampage." Gerard said, shaking his head. "Calm down, Gerard. We won't have to deal with him that much longer." Ray reassured him. Gerard let out a heavy sigh and looked down at me. "You alright?" He asked, showing a little unease. "That's a dumb question. Who's the stupid one now, Gee Gee?" I beamed, loving the look on his face when I called him 'Gee Gee'. I hadn't done it in a while, and I knew he hated it as much as we hated the Maddens and the Simpsons. A few long hours later it was my lunch period, YES! I sprinted through the soccer field and over to the old tree next to the old building. I whistled, and waited for a response. I got one from about three people; no one was the designated whistler back yet today. I ran to the side of the aged building and lay in the soft green grass. Everyone was there. The couples were sitting together, Gerard was drawing, an unlit cigarette hanging out of his mouth, and the rest of them were picking at the grass. Everyone was talking except for Gerard who was enthralled in his work. "I have a question." I said. Everyone except Gerard looked at me, "What do we do when it gets cold out?" "Dress warm." Gerard simpered, not taking his eyes off his drawing. "Well no shit Dick Tracey. But I mean, when it gets cold, do we still come out here…and if we do….how do we stay warm? I heard it gets really cold here in Jersey." I said. "Yeah, we come out here." Cory said, "And we go in the building, they always keep it warm for some unknown reason." "Where the fuck else would we go Lizzy?" Gerard still didn't look up as he spoke, the cigarette fell out of his mouth, and I had to laugh. "Well I don't know, Gee Gee!" I crawled over to him, and stole his sketch book, stood up, and flipped through its pages. There were many drawings; I had to admit that Gerard was VERY talented. "Come on Woman! Give it back!" He said, pushing his fingers into the back of my knees, just hard enough to make me fall. The sketchbook flew out of my hands and onto the ground, flipping to a random page with my picture paper clipped to it. I could see the beginnings of my face drawn on the page. I reached out for it, but Gerard got it faster than I could. He scowled down at me. He'd never looked so irritated before. We didn't talk for the rest of the school day. On our walk home I caved, and we fought, it lasted a whole of five minutes and I won. I was very proud.

OH COOL YOUR SHORTS AND READ THIS BIT! they're gonna start getting friendlier now! -------------------------------------------- *What I've Done to You* I looked out my living room window into the yard. It looked just as cold and bitter as it was. I had just gotten home from school. Gerard hadn't been there, and Mikey didn't know where he was. I wanted to ask him to help me draw something for a project because he was the best artist I knew. The project was due tomorrow, and I needed Gerard. I bit my lip, deciding on weather to go over or not. "Just fucking go over there dip-shit." Jimmy whispered in my ear. "Shut up." I pushed him away. "Just do it Elizabeth, go and get another story to tell me 20 million times. Have fun." Jimmy smiled. "What about you?" I asked. "I'm fine here, not going anywhere unless Miguel shows up, then we're off to his rich daddy's again. Man that bowling alley rocked." He smiled thinking about the afternoon we spent in Miguel's dad's mansion. "Yeah…well fine, I'll go." I said, grabbing the poster board and walking out of the house. I walked across yards and knocked on the door. Mikey opened it just enough to see me, "paranoid little twit." I laughed at him. He opened the door the rest of the way, allowing me in. Gerard was slumped into the couch looking miserable, smoking a cigarette. Donna, Gerard and Mikey's mom came out and reprimanded Gerard for smoking in the house, "You know I don't like that Gerard Arthur! Put it out or go outside." Gerard sighed angrily and put it out on the coffee table. "Gerard!" his mother yelled, shaking her head, and going back into the kitchen. "Rard?" I said softly, I called him 'Rard' whenever I wanted to play nice so he'd do something for me. "What?" he said, not taking his full attention from the TV. "I need your help. It's really important. I've been trying to draw it right for the past hour and I can't seem to get it good, and seeing as you're the best artist I know…I was hoping you could help me out." I said quickly, smiling sweetly. "Alright, follow me." He sighed, taking me to his room. It was gloomy. Messy and dark, with a small shred of happiness to it in some way. His cloths were strewn all over the floor, his desk was cluttered with drawings, comics, and ripped-up sketch books. There were random objects falling out of his closet, his bed wasn't made, and his TV was on. "Let me see it." He held his hand out, as he sat down in the chair at his desk. "It's supposed to be an Irish castle, it's for my advanced History class, and I can't get the shading to look right, or make the whole thing go together, see over here are vines, then on the tower the vines just stop and whenever I try and continue them they look all tangled and messy, and the bricks don't square up right, see? They're off by like… a lot!" I pointed out. He nodded and lit a cigarette. Gerard turned on the small lamp on his desk, allowing me to finally see all of his face. It was red, scratched up, bruised and a little bloody. It was rather attractive on his face, but made me worry. He pushed up the sleeves on his hoodie, allowing me to see his bruised and scraped arms. My hand outstretched toward his face first. "Rard… What happened?" my finger traced one of his cuts. "It's nothing, I'm fine…I just fell that's all." He lied. I could tell he was lying. Who would have done that to him? I thought a moment, and then remembered what Benji had said the day before. He pushed everything off his desk, with exception of the lamp, and pulled a pencil out of a drawer, putting the poster down, he erased some places, not many, just three or four things, it was a lot less than I expected. He drew in new lines, where the old ones had been then shaded in a little, giving it back to me afterwards. "As for the vines," he pointed to the tower, "Just draw like you have been they're vines for fuck's sake; they're supposed to be tangled and messy." Gerard told me. I bent down and hugged him tight. He wasn't exactly expecting it, but accepted all the same. "I'm sorry for what I did to you, Gerard." I told him. "What do you mean?" he asked. "You got hurt, because you stood up for me." I told him. "It's nothing. If you need anymore help just come on in okay? Doors always open for our friends." Gerard squeezed me tight before letting go. I smiled at him and walked back home, telling Jimmy everything '20 million' times over. He just sat and laughed every time I repeated it.
The next morning went by slow, Gerard and I actually talked! That's right! We talked! No fighting, AT ALL! I bounced over to the group at lunch time, and slid to a halt on my backside, next to Gerard who was fervently drawing something. "Wucha drawin'?" I asked, looking at his sketch pad, reading the comic he'd been working on. It was really good…the page I read anyway. It was about a vampire clan, it was pretty cool, I complimented him numerous times, and it only started a small fracas…that lasted the rest of the day. It was more of a fun fight than an angry fight, so it wasn't too bad and no one really won.

*Homecoming* "So I was like: 'cram it, teach, I don't care!'" Frank laughed, not stopping in front of his house. Everyone else laughed at his story. "What did he do?" Cory asked, playing with Quinn's hand. "He gave me an ISS for three weeks." Frank smiled. Even if he was in trouble nothing could get him down, that's just the way he was. "Frank stop straying, you all have to be in the shot!" Bob said, holding his video camera up. He turned it to face him as he walked backwards. "Tonight, is the Homecoming Dance, and we're all going to the mall to buy Tuxes, and dresses and shit, which will cost an ass load. Then we're letting the girls get their damn hair done which will cost another ass load, and we'll be fuckin' dirt ass broke after today... But it'll be worth it, 'cause this is our last year for homecoming seeing as we're SENIORS AND WE'LL BE KICKING ASS OUTA HERE SOON!" Bob said to the camera, yelling the last part, everyone cheered, "Except Kati, Bert, Frank, and Mikey don't count 'cause they aren't seniors, they're just little FRESHIES!" "Shut up!" Frank and Mikey said together, Bert and Kati were too absorbed in each other that they didn't know what was going on. "But I got my dress and Jimmy's Tux yesterday…We went out and bought all that." I said sadly. "Well that's not going to fucking stop us! You still have to get your hair done!" Ella yelled happily, shaking her wild red hair around everywhere. We got to the mall and I helped all the girls with their dresses, they put them on right away, then we went over to get our hair done. I watched in the mirror as Gerard stood aloof from the group, watching me. I didn't quite get it. It was a little weird at first, but his expression was light, kind, and sweet. It was kind of nice to know I was on his mind. It kind of gave me butterflies, and my face got a little red at times. They didn't do much to my hair, just kind of curled it so it bounced, and put sparkles in it, and what not. There was still a few more hours until Homecoming though, and we had nothing to do until then so we collaborated. "Well, we could go out and do nothing for a while… Like Partner up and roam around." Mikey said, this was his first homecoming, and he didn't seem all that excited to get there. "Or we could get manicures!" Lainie shouted. "Or not! Who's gonna pay for it? I'm dirt ass broke!" Jeph told her, she began to pout. "We could just go home and chill." Ray suggested. "No that's boring" Frank replied. "Or we could get manicures." Lainie insisted. "We can watch the girls try on bathing suits!" Bert said brightly. "BERT!" Kati hit him in the back of the head. "OR..."Lainie said, like she'd come up with a brilliant plan, everyone looked at her, "We could get manicures!" "NO!" everyone replied in unison. Lainie folded her arms and stared into space angrily. "Let's go with Mikey's idea. I think that sounds the best. I mean, we can partner up and when it's time to leave, we can all meet back here." I said, hoping to stop everyone's bickering. "Yeah." Frank said, giving thumbs up. "Okay, everyone buddy up!" Ray shouted, pulling Ella close to him. In what seemed like a flash of light, everyone was partnered. Mikey and Frank were bumping fists, Kati and Bert were groping each other, Cory was playing with Quinn's hair while they held hands, Branden grabbed his girlfriend Jennifer, Gabby was filming Bob with his camera, happily, and Lainie was on Jeph's back. "Okay so, me and Frank, Lainie Jeph, Branden Jenny, Cory Quinn, Bob Gabby, Ray Ella, Bert Kati, Elizabeth Gerard. Perfect!" Mikey smiled. Gerard and I gaped at each other. "Alright so we all meet back here at 7:30 so we can take Eliza-Betha home so she can get Jimmy and get her Dress on." Jeph said, turning to leave. Everyone else left as well. Gerard and I just stood there, arms folded, staring at one another. "Of all the nasty things-" I muttered, pretending I was unhappy with the situation when in fact, I was ecstatic. "Let's just get this over with." Gerard sighed. Basically all we did was walk around. We didn't go into any shops, but Gerard did buy me a pretzel at the food court when we passed through, then a coke when we walked back through. We saw our other friends as well, waving to them like we were having a better time than we actually were. I'm not saying it was bad, but for a while it was strange. "So, I was planning on going to Art school after we graduate. I want to make cartoons, or comic books, Children's books maybe. I have this starting of a cartoon, about a little monkey, not sure of what to call it yet." Gerard told me. "Sounds cool, hope ya get somewhere with that. I have no plans; I'm not a good planner. Never have been…Never will be, you know? I've been thinking about a culinary school, 'cause I love to cook but I'm not so good at it. I swear I could burn water. So, I don't know. I keep changing my mind. I just can't decide." I told him shrugging. "You should go to art school too then. I mean, you're really good at drawing, and painting and sculpting stuff. I've never been good at sculpting, but you're amazing at it. And you seem to enjoy it, from what I've seen in class and what not. So maybe Art school is right for you." Gerard smiled discreetly. "Yeah, maybe. Or maybe I just won't go to college. You never now. I'll just go work at McDonald's and flip burgers for a living like all the other idiots." I said depressingly. "Nah, you'll find something cool to do and get all rich and famous off it. I'll be able to watch you on TV and say, 'So that's what happened to Elizabeth. Man, I can't believe I knew her… Cool!'" Gerard smiled a little more brazenly this time. "Yeah, right." I laughed off his compliment. "Well, I think it's true. There's everyone else. Ready to go?" Gerard said. I nodded and we made our way quickly over to our friends. I told everyone to go ahead to Homecoming without me, because I wanted to go with Jimmy. I put my dress on, he put on his Tux, and we got in his shitty little car, and drove to the Homecoming Dance. We went in together, but it didn't stay that way for long. He was a chick magnet. They were drawn to him like moths to a flame. He fed them bullshit stories while they just at there, sighing and giggling at how superlative they thought he was. I met up with my friends; everyone was in a dance group but Gerard. He was no where to be seen, and no one knew where he was. I didn't let my worrying about Gerard ruin all my fun, so I danced like mad until a slow song came on. Everyone found a partner but me, I didn't even have Mikey to dance with, because he found a sophomore girl that had just been dumped, and seized the moment to dance with her and cheer her up. I sat in the back of the room while the song began to play, watching my friends, slow-dance happily. "Would a pretty girl like you care to dance?" A familiar male voice to my left said. I looked over to see Gerard with his hand out to me. He was smiling and bowing down slightly. I put my hand in his and we walked to the dance floor. We moved in graceful circles as we danced, my head on his shoulder, arms around his neck, while his were on my waist. It was like an immediate thing, it seemed like both of us wanted to be close to one another, but I didn't, for some reason, want to believe it. After the slow dance, Gerard disappeared again. He showed up for me every slow dance we had, then disappeared afterwards. I kept wondering where he was, but ended up shaking it off while dancing like a crazy girl. About the third slow dance in, Jimmy got to me first. We danced together, which ended in Jimmy French kissing me. I'd forgotten what kissing him was like. I mean, we gave each other little pecks on the lips, but we hadn't frenched since we stopped dating. In a weird way I didn't want Gerard to see, but I enjoyed it all the same, Jimmy fast-danced with me for a while after that, until he went to go hang with some guys. Next slow dance Gerard was there faster, and Jimmy had no chance of dancing with me. It kind of felt like Gerard was competing against Jimmy for me. It was rather strange. Afterwards he left again. Gerard ended up showing up, last song of the night. Of course it was only because it was a slow song. We danced the same again, close, embracing one another. "Where have you been all night?" I asked, feeling some what courageous. "Up in the weight room, watching all of this." He said softly. I mentally picture the whole, carpeted cafeteria empty, so I could figure out what he was talking about. There were stairs near the main entrance doors to the cafeteria, which took you up a level to something like a balcony, there was a short wall, half glass (window like) and the other half more wall-like, so no one would fall unless they jumped, and behind it were all kinds of weight training equipment. "Oh, why didn't you come and dance?" I asked. "I'm dancing now aren't I?" He chortled slightly. "Yeah, but I mean, why didn't you come and dance for the fast dances." I paraphrased. "Well, I just didn't I guess, I don't know." He shrugged. We broke apart; it was the end of the song already. I was sorry to hear it pass, wishing I could dance with Gerard again. We walked out of the building soon after I grabbed my coat and shoes from the multi-purpose room where they were being held. Jimmy drove off in his car with some girl I didn't know, and I was left ride-less. "Want me to walk you home?" Gerard asked, looking around, seeing our other friends had left, and we both had no rides. "I can go myself; I'm not going to die." I smiled cheekily, walking down the school steps. "I'd feel better if you let me take you." He told me, catching up and taking hold of my arm, and turning me towards him. "Oh, would you now? Well, I don't need a man's help to do anything, thank you for the interest, Gerard, but no thanks." I told him, turning away from him and walking through the parking lot and over to the sidewalk where I pushed the 'walk' button to get across the street. "Well I'll just follow you then. I live right next door to you, so I'll just follow." He grinned audaciously. "Fine, take me home, oh mighty god!" I rolled my eyes, cringing at the thought of being followed. Gerard smiled triumphantly at the fact that he won. We walked in mostly silence, it wasn't an awkward silence, it was actually quite comfortable. "You cold?" Gerard asked, watching me shiver in the cold night air. "No. What are you Crazy? Ya dumb buffoon." I shook my head, Gerard just laughed, taking off his over coat and putting it around my shoulders. "No, you're the crazy one, little miss headstrong." Gerard chuckled. I had to laugh slightly, and I felt the urge to move closer to him, I don't know what it was. Something in me just pulled me closer to him. "Well, Goodnight, Elizabeth." Gerard smiled, taking his over coat from me when we stopped in front of my house and I held it out to him. "Night, Gerard." I smiled, walking up the porch steps, and into my quiet house. I noticed that Gerard didn't leave until I was safe and warm, through the door in my house. In a way, I appreciated it. That night, I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling thinking about Gerard. I thought of all he'd ever done for me. How he was sweet to me when I was being a bitch. I wanted to be there for him, like he was there for me. I wanted to be someone he could come to, someone he could talk to. I sat up restlessly, and looked out my window, which happened to lead to a window in Gerard's house. Surprising enough, it went right into Gerard's bedroom. I had never noticed until that moment. I watched him, sitting up in bed, drawing vacantly. The expression on his face had no concentration what so ever. His mind was roaming free, off on many different things at once. He let out a heavy sigh and tossed his sketch book to the side and leaned back, smiling slightly. He reached over the bed and grabbed his overcoat. He held it in his hand and smiled at it, it was the look he usually gave me whenever I made him laugh or smile, or I was around for that matter. I cocked my head to the side as I watched him. He hung the jacket on the bed post, and turned his side table light off. I couldn't see any more of him, so I got up and went to my computer, typing to Miguel for a few hours until Jimmy showed up at which time we went to sleep.
